Opening our season is a South Bay premiere of a new, award-winning musical about two brothers who set out to write the world’s first musical in this hilarious mash-up of sixteenth-century Shakespeare and twenty-first century Broadway. Something Rotten! opened on Broadway in 2015 presenting 742 performances, then went on a national tour in 2017 and toured Asia in 2019. The score includes “Welcome To The Renaissance”, “God, I Hate Shakespeare”, “I Love The Way”, “A Musical”, “We See The Light” and the title song.

"Triumph of Love"
March - April 2023
Music by Jeffrey Stock, Lyrics by Susan Birkenhead
Book by James Magruder

Continuing our season is another Saratoga premiere which is a musical adaptation of the 1732 Marivaux farce, Le Triomphe de l’Amour, and centers on the Greek princess, Leonide, who falls for the heir to the kingdom her family took over. To win him, she disguises herself as a boy and deals with his uncle and aunt, who favor reason over passion in this tongue-in-cheek adaptation of the classic comedy which shows us that love knows no limits. Betty Buckley starred in the Broadway production in 1997. The score includes “This Day Of Days”, “Mr. Right”, “Issue In Question” and “Have A Little Faith”.

"Cinderella" (the Broadway version)
June - July 2023

The musical is a Saratoga premiere of a new, award-winning adaptation of the classic fairy tale; the story of a young woman forced into a life of servitude by her cruel stepmother, who dreams of a better life. With the help of her Fairy Godmother, she is transformed into an elegant young lady and is able to attend the Royal Ball to meet her Prince. Julie Andrews starred in the original version in the 1957 TV broadcast. The score includes “In My Own Little Corner”, “Stepsisters’ Lament”, “A Lonely Night”, “Now Is The Time:, “Me Who Am I?” and “There’s Music In You”.
